Advertisement Bombardment

Bookmark and Share

Our life is fenced by advertisements in a way that they have become annoying, hard to get rid of, and nearly impossible to avoid.

No, I am not against advertisements, but I am against ‘forced advertisements’. You must have had an experience of the irritation caused by a disturbing advertisement in middle of an interesting show. And the most annoying part comes when that same advertisement is repeated. When it comes to Internet, and the so called ‘free services’ offered by numerous websites, we are again targeted by those annoying advertisements. Those sometimes, pop-up, play weird sounds, and divert attention with shocking colors and fraudulent statements.

Irony is: even actual content is being replaced by advertisements. I have observed many shows on TV channels pointlessly indulging their sponsors in the script and even worse, their shows are named after their sponsors. This same thing can be found in print media as well. You can even find many ads disguised in genuine articles.

When it comes to targeting people’s emotions and reaping benefits, advertisers do not miss the chance. You are most likely to find the celebrity in advertisement promoting any product with front lines as ‘to imitate their personality you must purchase the product’. And stupidly, their sales increase because in our part of world, fans are meant to be fooled by celebrities.

Seriously speaking, advertisements are produced and placed unethically these days. I have seen billboards near schools and hospitals spotlighting underdressed models, which brainwash innocent minds of children with filthy ideas. Not only this, teens today are bombarded with ads to smoke tobacco, drink alcohol and do every single thing that leads them to negative track of life. Ads cannot be placed everywhere and not all products should be advertised. These kinds of ads leave an adverse effect on our society.

The bottom line is advertisements bombardment should be stopped immediately. Because they are exceedingly annoying, immorally designed and, senselessly positioned. A perfect solution to this would be, concerned authorities should be made ‘neutral and honest’ enough to improvise screening of advertisements.
